Reading is considered as the gateway to all other knowledge. You must learn to read efficiently to succeed in other areas of study. So, it is quite common for children who struggle with reading to also struggle in other subjects as well. But with help from Mrs. K’s in-person or online reading tutoring, students can become stronger and more confident readers with greater comprehension. Mrs. K starts by assessing your child’s current abilities and struggles. This allows Mrs. K to craft a learning program specifically for your child that leads to better mastery of reading skills and strategies. Mrs. K’s one-on-one tutoring assures individualized instruction that moves at your child’s pace and focuses on their areas of difficulty such as:
Reading Comprehension, Reading Fluency, Vocabulary Development, Letter, Word Recognition, Decoding, Phonics, and Word Pronunciation.
PERSONALIZED ELEMENTARY WRITING PROGRAMS:
Mrs. K’s writing program starts with an in-depth assessment to develop a customized learning plan. This allows Mrs. K to pinpoint the writing skills your child needs to become a more confident and successful written communicator.
Mrs. K’s approach builds effective writing skills through interactive tutor-student exercises. Once a writing assessment is completed, Mrs. K will tailor a specific writing strategy for each child and will work with both parents and teachers to ensure success. Mrs. K will help your child learn to write and ultimately master writing skills such as:
Spelling, Grammar, Punctuation, Sentence Structure, Editing, Revision, Opinion, Narrative, Expository and Literary Essays.
Mrs. K provides one-on-one, focused instruction for all elementary math topics, including number sense and relationships, addition and subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, algebra, and critical thinking, all of which are aligned with common core math. Engaging younger students and motivating them to learn takes interactive lessons that are based on their learning style. Elementary students need their curiosities piqued to keep them engaged. Relating math to the real world and everyday life, as well as using games and puzzles, can aid their understanding and retention of math principles. Mrs. K understands that everyone learns math in unique and different ways. Mrs. K develops a unique learning experience based on your student’s education background and needs. Even the most reluctant math student can succeed, and even enjoy learning math! Once an assessment is completed, your child’s personalized program may include: Addition and subtraction, Numbers Sense, Place Value, Multiplication, Division, Decimals, Fractions, Geometry and Algebra. All concepts are aligned with Common Core.
